LH/FSH ratio in PCOS — what it means
LH and FSH signal the ovaries. Some people with PCOS show a higher LH:FSH ratio, but timing in the cycle and lab methods matter a lot. Ratios don’t diagnose PCOS by themselves.
What the ratio shows
- It’s a snapshot of LH relative to FSH; in some PCOS patterns it can be >2.
- It shifts across your cycle and differs by assay, so context is key.
- Use it alongside symptoms and other labs — never alone.
How to think about values
If you tested early-follicular (cycle days ~2–5), you’ll usually get the most comparable results. Ratios above ~2 can appear in PCOS, but many people with PCOS won’t have a high ratio.
Small step that helps
Consistent wind-down
Dim lights 60 minutes before bed and keep a steady sleep window. This steadies circadian cues that influence hormones.
